Why Choose Cleveland
You will never regret deciding to get married at Cleveland. Situated on the beautiful bayside, just southeast of Brisbane, Cleveland is about 40 minutes by car from the CBD, but it feels like a world away. Cleveland is an ideal location for your wedding because it is warmer than Brisbane in the Winter and cooled by gentle sea breezes in the Summer.
Ceremony Locations in Cleveland
There are many options for your ceremony if you get married in Cleveland. Cleveland has many splendid parks suitable for weddings. Many of these have bookable areas that can be reserved for a small fee. Contact the Redland City Council for details. G J Walter Park, Raby Bay Foreshore Park, Raby Bay Harbour Park and Raby Bay Boulevard Park are all great wedding parks but my personal favourite park to get married in Cleveland is the Cleveland Point Reserve.
Situated right on the tip of Cleveland Point and surrounded by the tranquil waters of Moreton Bay, the Cleveland Point Reserve has everything – shady trees, wide grassy spaces, fabulous views and, best of all, a historic and super-photogenic red and white wooden lighthouse. In front of the lighthouse is a wonderful spot for a marriage ceremony and a must for photos if you get married in Cleveland. For bookings go to the Redland City Council website.
Redland City parks are popular places and can be crowded at weekends. Parking at Cleveland Point can be difficult, so it’s a great idea for guests to arrive by cab, particularly if the reception is going to be at one of the two amazing restaurants nearby.
Reception Venues in Cleveland
Within walking distance of Cleveland Point are two fabulous restaurants that are popular wedding reception venues. The Lighthouse Restaurant is right on Cleveland Point. Although usually just a venue for receptions, it is also a wonderful spot for ceremonies with smaller numbers of guests.
The Courthouse Restaurant is in a historic building a short walk from Cleveland Point. Famous for the quality of its food, the Courthouse can accommodate both large and small receptions in style. It also has a wonderful garden area with beautiful views across the water to Stradbroke Island, used for marriage ceremonies and cocktail style receptions.
If historic buildings are your thing, Cleveland’s Grand View Hotel might be just what you’re looking for. Queensland’s oldest hotel has lovely gardens with dedicated outdoor ceremony areas and great water views. There are a choice of two reception areas – the Verandah Restaurant and the Emu Point Pavilion, a marquee ideal for outdoor weddings.
Another two venues to check out if you get married in Cleveland are the Pacific Resort and the Redlands RSL. Although they are mostly used for receptions, it is possible to have your ceremony there too and both have great value wedding packages.
For some other wedding options in the Redlands, have a look at my blogs on Sirromet Winery, Wedding at Alexandra Hills and getting married at Mt Cotton. For other waterside wedding locations close to Brisbane, also have a look at Manly or Scarborough and Suttons Beach at Redcliffe. Shorncliffe is also well worth a look.
I have conducted many weddings in the Cleveland area. For a local Redlands marriage celebrant, call me now.
