Get Married at Mt Gravatt

Why Get Married at Mt Gravatt

Mt Gravatt isn’t exactly wedding central… Wrong! There are some great reasons to get married at Mt Gravatt. It’s a nice suburb on Brisbane’s south side just down the freeway from the Brisbane CBD. It has excellent public transport services and the huge Westfield Garden City shopping centre is nearby.

A Fabulous Ceremony Location

In the middle of Mt Gravatt the suburb is the hill which is actually Mt Gravatt. A winding 2km drive to the Mt Gravatt Lookout at the summit is absolutely worth the effort. The view is breathtaking. Where else in Brisbane can you see south to the Border Ranges, north to the Glasshouse Mountains and east to Moreton Island? The summit has a large carpark and there are a couple of beautiful spots to get married.

For a small, intimate wedding, couples can stand with the view behind them, overlooking the city. On the other side of the carpark is a gently sloping grassy space that separates the carpark from Toohey Forest. The tall trees form a wonderful backdrop for a ceremony. The area is large enough to accommodate weddings with larger numbers of guests.

Check with the Brisbane City Council before your wedding, particularly if you are planning on setting up chairs, arbours, etc.

Great Photo Opportunities

If you get married at Mt Gravatt, the logical spot for photos is the Lookout. Whether you want city views or the forest in your photos, you can have both at the Lookout.

Two Excellent Reception Venues

If you get married at Mt Gravatt, there are a couple of good reception options in the area.

The LoveWell Project is a cafe right on top of Mt Gravatt at the Lookout. As well as having the most spectacular views of any cafe in Brisbane, The LoveWell Project can cater for wedding receptions and is ideal for anyone getting married at the summit. Better yet, The LoveWell Project’s profits go to support a women’s charity.

The Comfort Inn and Suites Robertson Gardens is a one stop shop for weddings only a couple of kilometres from Mt Gravatt. This neat and surprisingly large motel offers motel rooms and family villa accommodation, a private and well maintained ceremony area and two function areas offering both sit down and cocktail reception options. Robertson Gardens has some wonderfully affordable wedding packages. Have a look at my Robertson Gardens blog for more information.
