Getting Married at Mooloolaba

Wedding at Mooloolaba

Mooloolaba has been popular as a holiday destination for many years, but more and more couples are choosing the Sunshine Coast as a marriage destination and having their wedding at Mooloolaba. Couples from Queensland have known about Mooloolaba for years, but it’s becoming a popular destination for couples from interstate and overseas as well.

Position, Position, Position

There are plenty of reasons for having your wedding at Mooloolaba. First of all, it’s in a fabulous location. Mooloolaba is about 80 minutes north of Brisbane by car and close to the Sunshine Coast Airport which has flights to and from major Australian cities every day, so guests can get there easily. Mooloolaba has lots of accommodation to suit all budgets from modest motels and comfortable B&Bs to opulent apartments with beachfront views.

Beautiful Beaches

If you’re considering a beach wedding, Mooloolaba has miles of wide sandy beaches ideal for ceremonies. Ceremonies can be conducted almost anywhere on the main beach outside the patrolled area, so if you’re having your wedding at Mooloolaba, it’s possible to get ready in an apartment nearby and walk to your ceremony. There are several companies in the area that will set up chairs and arbours on the beach and pack everything down later.

Food, Glorious Food

Choosing a reception venue is always important, and Mooloolaba has plenty to choose from. The Surf Life Saving Club right on the main beach has a dedicated function room upstairs with spectacular sea views. The club has some great reception packages and offers both cocktail style receptions and sit down meals.

Pier 33 is a venue at the Mooloolaba Marina that offers both ceremony and reception in one location. Featuring ethically sourced food, Pier 33 can accommodate weddings of 25 to 250 guests. Free parking in a private carpark is a bonus.

There are also plenty of restaurants within walking distance of Mooloolaba Beach, and, if you’re happy to go a little further afield, there are many other restaurants and reception venues in other parts of the Sunshine Coast and the hinterland.
