Wedding at Scarborough
Scarborough is a quiet little village at the northern tip of the Redcliffe Peninsula. More and more lovebirds choose to have their wedding at Scarborough because of its relaxed seaside vibe, although it’s very close to Brisbane. The waterside parks, tranquil blue ocean and views all the way across Moreton Bay and out to the Glasshouse Mountains make Scarborough a natural choice for marriage ceremonies.
Parks for Scarborough Weddings
Couples having their wedding at Scarborough have a choice of seafront parks for their ceremony. They have great views and bookable areas that can be reserved on the Moreton Bay Regional Council website.
A couple of my favourites are Jamieson Park on Reef Point Esplanade with views across Deception Bay, and the park facing Scarborough Beach. They can be busy at times but there is plenty of free parking near both of these parks. If you’re planning a laid back, picnic reception, there are sheltered picnic areas with free electric barbecues and excellent fish and chips available nearby. The Scarborough Beach park also has the Pirate Playground to keep children of all ages entertained during your reception.
Two other parks that I like for a wedding at Scarborough are Tingira Park in Second Avenue and Endeavour Park at Newport. These parks have fewer facilities than many in the area; however, they’re quieter and you are less likely to have to share your space with other park users.
Ceremony and Reception Venues
There are plenty of restaurants and other venues on the Redcliffe Peninsula that can cater for the smallest and most intimate celebrations right up to the largest wedding parties. A quick Google Search or a leisurely drive through the area will reveal a myriad of possible venues for celebrating with family and friends after your ceremony.
Here are three of my favourites for a wedding at Scarborough, but there are many more great venues in the area:
- Reid’s Place is a ceremony and reception venue on Scarborough Road. Featuring a gorgeous old Queenslander house set in tropical wedding gardens, Reid’s Place offers ceremony location, reception venue and accommodation in one spot. A variety of packages is available. The midweek packages are particularly good value
- The Moreton Bay Boat Club is close to the Scarborough Marina. It can cater for wedding receptions of up to 120 people There are some interesting and affordable reception options. They range from gourmet cocktail parties to relaxed barbecues
- The Waters Edge can accommodate up to 350 guests and is also situated close to the Marina. The function room features floor to ceiling windows offering great Moreton Bay views. There are several wedding packages available
Accommodation for Your Wedding at Scarborough
For guests staying in Redcliffe after your wedding, Scarborough has plenty of accommodation options. There are several quality B&Bs in the area. The Scarborough Holiday Village is a neat and tidy caravan park with caravan sites and cosy cabins. For an upmarket wedding night stay, Mon Komo Hotel at Redcliffe is well worth a look.
